I have a pioneer Dvd106s slot load rom. It plays games and CD's fine but I can't watch DVD's. What am I missing here? Is there a program I need to download? Thanks

I'm surprised your Pioneer didn't come with some sort of scaled down software, unless it was an OEM.

You might try a Google search to possibly find a freeware program, or go to ZDNet.com/downloads and see if they have WinDVD and PowerDVD shareware that you can try out and make your own decision.

Depending on the video card you have, it might have shipped with some DVD playing software. I got one with my ATI Radeon 64MB VIVO. I'm using PowerDVD right now, and it's been great. :)

No problem. Also, I didn't think of it, but Ojai is right. Many video cards come with some sort of DVD software. You might want to check your card's CD.

Sometimes the most obvious answer is the most elusive. Glad to hear it. Now you don't have to spend any $ and you can go out and rent some DVD's.
