DVD-ROM question

I have a primary CD burner that I use for my normal applications, games, etc. Well, I have my secondary drive, which is a Plextor DVD burner (PX-708A) and I have noticed that when I am listening to audio discs that it stutters. I have messed around with the settings for both drives, and all the settings are the same. Any ideas? Is this common for a DVD-ROM?
