DVD rom problems need help

Ok a few of my DVD's skip in the same places with this used DVD-Rom I just bought. It is a Aopen 1240AMH. I bought it off someone on the forums. He said if I wasnt happy with it he would refund the money(because I said it takes a few to find CD's). I told him I will watch a few DVD's and will let him know something. Well I watched 3 DVD's first seem to play fine but the next day when I watched the other 2 they skipped in the same places.

My DVD's are in mint condition so I don't think they are the problem but I don't know. Do you all think it could be the DVD-rom? I have a 1.2 Athlon,Geforce 3 Ti200,256mb PC133,WinDVD 3.0,WinXP Pro. Or could it be a setting problem?

is dma enabled?

i noticed my dvd rom skipped a little when not in dma mode

I think under the IDE settings it says it is using mode 2 UDMA.
