DVD-ROM no longer plays dvds...

worked fine a few weeks ago, and i put in a dvd yesterday and it wont play. i reinstalled powerdvd, tried the klcodec226 pack, uninstalled/reinstalled the drive and it will play cds fine, but when i put in a DVD it says

"please insert a disk into drive E:."

its a samsung SD-612

couldnt find any drivers or firmware updates, ive run adaware and spybot and my system is clean; but this is totally random. Any idea what I can do to get it working properly?

Try blowing it out with compressed air. If that doesn't work put it in another system to see if it works and try another DVD player in your system.

I've had tht happen a couple of times and the drive was just bad. It would read CD's but not DVD's.
