DVD-ROM/CD-ROM/CD-R driver problems

Windows recognizes the DVD and CD portion of the device, but it doesn't recognize it as a CD-r. I can't find a driver or anything. I just can't figure it out. any help?
 
did you install your burning software & try to see if your drive is seen as a recorder in the software?
if it is, then it doesn't matter how your drive is seen by windows!
