DVD-ROM Audio

Just as the summary says is it needed. I checked older threads and found one that mentioned the audio wire was not needed, not sure if it was only reffering to the analog, but will digital audio still be fed to the onboard sound of the mother board?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

most newer MS OSes use the ide cable to move audio negating the analog cable..in some its a checkbox option..🙂 ..digital from back of drives is spdif I believe(always subject to correction by more informed persons 😉)..

ScrapSilicon is absolutely right. The checkbox is in your device manager under your optical drives.
