DVD-ROM and Burning Software!

i got an Acer Dvd Rom about 5 months ago and i got a blue screen every time i inserted a disc into it when i first installed, i then figered out that it was happening because i had a version of Adaptec Cd Utils installed , i uninstalled and now everything works fine , but i need a descent burning program to work with, i tryed nero and get same errors, is there any way to get ither of these to work?
