DVD recording/editing/burning program needed

I'm looking for some software that will allow me to take a digital recording, edit it, and then burn the recording to a dvd. I know there are many programs out there that can do this, but I need one that is able to burn the video to a dvd very quickly. I've tried programs where you need to encode the video first before burning it and that is a very lengthy process. Any ideas?

Well, DVD uses a specific format (mpeg2, 720x480 NTSC, 720x756 PAL, 29.976 or 25 fps, etc...), so any program is going to require any digital recording to be transcoded first. Otherwise most DVD players will not be able to read the disc.

What format are you coming from? DV-AVI I'm guessing if it's a digicam. Really no way around it unless your target DVD player supports additional codecs.

I'm not too sure what format, I was trying to help a friend with this problem. I'll look into that and see. Also, the dvds being burnt are going to various dvd players, so it would have to be in an universal format, which sounds like there is no way around encoding.

That would be your best bet. Though, it only needs to be done once. Then just burn the same file or iso to several discs.
