DVD-R/+R wchich one to use ?

Hi !
I just ordered me my first DVD recorder, and my question is what diference makes using -/+ media ? is it about compatibility ? I ordered NEC 8X burner.

+R dual layer specs are supposed to be released today. We should see burners/media by this spring. -R is slated for december to the tune of 1x. We'll see. I wouldn't mind a dual format with +r dual layer this spring if it can handle descent CDR and DVD ripping speeds.

use both .. usually ..

-R for dvd videos
+R for data

i've done both bot videos and data and it makes little difference in dvd drives and standalones.

Thanks, that helps a lot.....
one more question : I want to send my DVD's to Europe ,and of course keep a copy to myself in US. Can I burn a region free DVD or do I need to make a diferent one for europe and US ?

Any DVD you create the content for will be region-free. Your issue will NTSC vs PAL.

Really, go to DVDHelp as many of the questions you have will be answered there.
