can i still run cd's and dvd's on a NEC dual layer dvd rw drive?

why do people have a seperate dvd rom drive if you can do it on the dvd burner?

pretend life with 1 cd/dvd drive.

you can only have one disc at the same time inside.

ANNOYING.

some games require discs and it's better to have two drives instead of one. So you can play a game while one is burning or something.

Jeez.

Having more is better. Not only does it mean that copying cd's and dvd's is easier, as it can be done directly (also known as 'on-the-fly', but it also means that you can use both at the same time. Say you always play a favourite game that requires the disc whilst playing, you could have the disc inserted into the drive, yet still use the other one for doing your every day-to-day stuff that requires the use of a media reader

You can use the NEC dual layer dvd rw drive to read basically anything you want up to DVD's. So basically, yes, you can use it to read games/dvds. The burning part is just an added feature that the drive supports.

Cheers
