I have recently purchased a pioneer DVR - A05 DVD burner i have tried to make a Data Disk With 4.6gb worth of files (in windows properties) it wouldnt let me why is this? arent they supposed to hold 4.7GB i then tried 4.5 i fianally settled for 4.34 and the burning program (pioneer record now (bundled software) said there was 4.5GB 4,673,343,488bytes on disk.

If anyone can explain this to me it would be a big help.

thanks

Probably the same reason an 80GB hard drive isn't actually 80GB. 4,673,343,488 rounds to 4.7GB in marketing terms but is in binary reality only 4.35GB. The OS and most software report the space in binary, while drive manufacturers talk about base 10 numbers.
