Ordered mine Monday night Late, got here Today. I randomly grabbed 30 or so out of the stack of 100 and all look perfect. Not seeing any scratches or discoloration like some of the guys above. Will edit later after I burn a couple.

I have burned 5 more disc using nero 6 with verification:

all burned at 4x speed

2.6 gig of data, burned and verified fine.
2.9 gigs mp3 burned and verified fine.
3.3 gig dvd movie burns, verify and plays through entirely my dvd players fine
3.3 gig dvd movie burns, verify and plays fine
2.3 gig dvd movie burns, verify and plays fine

so far 3 out of 10 burns are bad(failed data verfication and only partially plays), and 43 out of 100 are scratched up fairly well.

received my order today - not to happy, many DVDs are scratched!
it's like these DVDs are refurbs somehow they're in such "B" rate condition

1/3 off the bunch are in this condition
out of 3 burns, all have completed successfully - although 1 was way so skipping towards the end of the movie I just threw it against the wall

get what you pay for

No not @ all. As the price drops so does the quality usually & these have been dropping in price since the thread was 1st started.

I'm not trying to diswade any one from getting these. I'm only posting an observation on 'Quantiy/Qualitiy' vs. Pricing. ;)

I'd go for another stack but I'm set for a few months~! :D

Excellent media. I did have 3 out of 100 that wouldn't burn or play properly but that's really a non~issue @ these prices.

Case in point. Seems as though I may be right. :(

Recieved 50 today for $20. Did a random check on the discs looks OK. Using NEC 2500a Burned an iso image(4.37G) with dvd decrypter at 4x speed. Nero cd-dvd graph looks perfect. Media code is Yi Jhan 001. Anybody heard about that?

I tried backing up a movie with these discs but Nero says that they are illegal media. I have an NEC 1300A with 1.08 firmware and Nero 5.5. Not only are 20 physically bad, I can't even burn with the 30 good ones I have! Anyone have the same problem?

Yeah I'm using DVDShrink to rip the movies but Nero 5.5, using an NEC-1300A with 1.08 firmware, still doesn't recognize the discs.

I received mine today. When I try to burn I get "Illegal Disc" fron Nero 6. I have the NEC1300a firmware 1.08. I've tried several discs and I get the same result, any ideas?

Yeah I get the exact same thing. The only thing I can think of is using one of Herrie's hacked firmwares. People said they were able to burn these discs with their NEC 1300A's with 1.08, but since we both had no luck in doing so, they are either using another program to burn the discs or they are using a hacked firmware. I remember flashing with some hacked 1.07 firmware a few months ago with my NEC 1300A and the process failed. The drive never opened and I had to buy another one!!

I have a DVDShrink question on backing up movie...

do you need to make a nrg (thru "image recorder" option) to burn with nero

or can you just shrink to hdd folder and use nero express to create a DVD-video compilation and add all the files from hdd folder to the video_ts folder?

The problem I am having is that when I choose that image recorder option for the nrg files, it seems to make a folder of the video files PLUS the nrg image file which is taking extra long and double the space it seems.

so far, I'm about 50-50...3 good, 3 bad. I use DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO image and verify it. It usually burns ok at 4x, but fails in the verification process. I'm gonna bring it down to 2x and then 1x.

You want to shrink to a folder on your hdd. A friend of mine had the same question and was ripping his discs to an .ISO file. When the encoding is complete, open up Nero. Under the question: "Which recorder would you like to use?", select the tab that has the name of your DVD burner drive follow by a "[DVD]".
Then, under "What would you like to burn?", choose DVD-Video files. This should take you to another screen where you can add the folder of your ripped dvd. Click add, highlight the folder you want to be burned, click add again, then finished. Click Next and it will bring you to the last window where you can finally click on burn.

BTW, those of you with the Yi Jhan discs that have the NEC 1300A and are getting "Illegal Media" from Nero can flash to the official 1.09 firmware. They won't work with the official 1.08 firmware like some people on this thread had suggested. I just flashed to 1.09 a few minutes ago and Nero can finally recognize them at 4x.

Today was my first time using DVDShrink. All I remember is that I hit the Re-Author button then I hit the Backup button. It took over an hour to analyze the dvd but at the end it just told me to insert a blank dvd. then it burned it in ~20 minutes.
Maybe there is a quicker way to Re-author, or maybe I dodn't have to do it????????

I burned 4 disks all at once on my DVD burning rig, 4 NEC 2500a's DVD shrink, nero 6 Enterprise edition with multiple burner's box checked, I burned @ 4x with no errors and they play back fine on the 3 home DVD players i have here.

I'm getting the "Illegal Disc" error too on my NEC 1300A with Nero 6. My drive's firmware is only 1.06 but I've had no other problems prior to these discs. I'm bummed. :(
