Apparently the S-video gives better quality of picture and I'm interested in maximizing DVD quality...I am using only the included RCA cable now - how much difference will the S-video cable make (yes my tv supports it) ?

It's like the difference between a horse and an alligator, not necissarily respectively or from any one frame of reference.

I am using the S-video cable with PS2 and I can't tell a difference in the quality.
PS: I have it connected to a Sony Wega.

About 13.84 on a scale of 32.

Well, you say your TV supports it (S-video), but what kind of TV do you have?? That will really let you know if you will be able to tell the difference. You would be able to tell on a higher end Sony Wega TV so to speak, but you might not be able to tell on a standard 27" TV.

Its a samsung 25" - I paid about $350 for it new, I can't remember how many lines of display it has - more than the minimum; its picture isn't bad but its certainly no $1500 TV.

S-Video will give you better color separation. If the colors seem to blend at times, S-Video should elimiate that.

I say the difference is worth the cost of the S-video cable. Not as good as component video (which is amazing), but definitely better than standard composite cables.
