DVD player only playing in black/white

My dad called me earlier today..said the kids were watching something, and they flipped the DVD over (one of those two-sided deals) to watch the other part, and it only played in black and white..I told him to turn everything off and back on, but that didn't work.

I just got home, so I messed around a little -- plugged the DVD player directly into the TV (bypassing the reciever), and it's still black and white...is the player shot, or is there something I could be missing? It's an Apex unit..maybe 2 years old. We need an upgrade anyway, but I was hoping to watch something (in color) tonight

Edit: Well, apparently they did more than just flip the DVD over...I reset the player to default factory settings and it works great..lol

Are you using the S-Video cable? Make sure it stays fully plugged in both the DVD player and TV.
