I was walking around in best buy yesterday and i decided to pick up a Home dvd player...but there were so many choices to pick. Can any you recommend a dvd player to buy? I want the best bang per buck and i dont care what color it is or how it looks...as long as ish good. Also should i just buy an x-box instead to play my dvd's and games? I am also willing to buy one online also.

I'll take that as a "no"...

And with that in mind, I'll recommend the Panasonic RP56.

As long as we're on the subject of DVD players, anyone know anything about those DVD/VHS players? Lightning killed our VCR and we still use VHS enough to require a VHS player/recorder. Two separate units are out of the question. I'm advocating a DVD/VHS combo deck, specifically the Panasonic PV-D4742 or the Samsung DVD-V2000. Anyone with experience want to offer opinions? Oh yes, our TV has analogue coax, Video-In, and S-Video In jacks only. No fancy progressive-scan HDTV's here.

CostCo B&M has a nice Toshiba combo DVD/VCR for $199 it's not exactly the same as this model but it's close.

I'm thinking about buying that, the VCR even has COMMERCIAL SKIP and I already have a 27" Toshiba TV so that 1 remote should control all 3 devices (TV/VCR/DVD).
