Even with my control panel volume setting at the highest, I can barely hear DVD movies.
I have the same problem on my desktop PC's (various configs) and on my G4 Powerbook.
I don't have the problem with CD's or MP3 on my hard drive.
Am I missing a setting somewhere or am I just going deaf?
 
Did you turn on all options in the control panel/sound & maximized the volume for all? How about the volume within the dvd playing application?
 
Same here; what DVD player software are you using? I've found a bit of a solution, but it varies with the software being used.
