I was just looking to purchase a DVD Making program but have little knowledge in this topic and I was wondering if anyone had any good choices for taking movies from my computer and burning them to dvd. I believe the codecs are divx (.avi). Thanks alot!!

For ease of use you probably cannot get any easier than TMPGEnc DVDAuthor 1.6 (TDA 1.6) I am no sure how it will handle divx, you may need to re-encode to mpeg2 for it to be compliant, but as faras authoring, and menu creation it is pretty straight forward. you will need a program such as Nero to burn the files because I have found that the built in burning software with TDA is somewhat unreliable.

If you've got the cash, Pinnacle Studio is pretty neat. Lots of built in effects and functions and really easy to use!

VSO ConvertXtoDVD could not be simpler (transcode/author/burn) with great speed and quality (variable options), menus, subtitles, and reliable output. I have tried a bunch of such proggies and many of them are just junk, making basic mistakes such as wrong aspect ratio &c. There is an older free version as well called DivXtoDVD.
