DVD Drives for HTPC

Anyone know of a good quiet and fast DVD drive for a HTPC. I have the NEC 3550A and love them as burners but they are so loud in my htpc and at times the dvd pauses, and u hear the drive power up faster and the video unpauses...

Nero DriveSpeed should help. Otherwise, Plextors are usually pretty quiet, even before engaging their "silent mode" feature.

whatever you do, don't get a Lite-On drive. Plextor and/or pionner drives are pretty good. expensive, but they're quite. you could also use Nero DriveSpeed to force the drive to be quite. probablly the cheapest way.

You could burn the Image of your dvds onto the hard drive (and get a freaking huge hard drive). Much more convenient and it kind of maintains the HTPC feel.

Well windows MCE works great with xvid/divx too. a well encoded divx/xvid really isnt much different than a dvd on my 51". Gonna try the drivespeed, does anyone know minimum speeds for DVD playback? Also the proper setting for spindown time..
