I'm using a Compaq Presario laptop, equipped with a DVD drive. It was working fine for a while, but recently, for some reason, whenever i put in any cd, the drive begins spinning up, but i then recieve a blue screen error message, and if i push a key to continue, the screen goes black and i have to reboot. i have no idea whats causing this, and i've tried reinstalling the dvd drive drivers. if anybody has any suggestions, i'd appreciate it.

If the drive is dirty, then it might be able to read a small amount of a CD. But windows wants to read more of the CD before it is satisfied. When it can't, you will sometimes get a blue screen. It the drive is not dirty, then the drive is probably bad.
