DVD Drive stuck in PIO mode

Title is pretty self explanitory. DVD burner is stuck in PIO mode and thats great if I feel like waiting an hour or more for a dvd to finish burning.

So, how do I get it out of PIO mode? It's a Lite-On SOHW-1693S (crossflashed up from 1673S 😀).

NVM, i think...

I'm pretty sure having windows rerecognize the dvd drive (i.e. update firmware) is one way to fix the problem.

Used the search button and found my answer (hopefully).

Yup, NVM, solved the problem, now running in DMA mode 2 😀.

Even though the drive is rated at DMA mode 4, I don't think I'll be maxing mode 2 out with a dvd drive.

Looks like I solved my own problem.

See article in today's listings at majorgeeks.com about copy protection malware that comes with some game software. Can have bad effects on burners...

At least I already solved the problem.

I also know all about that copy protection. Starforce can damage your cd drive 😱 (plus you can't back up those games 🙁
