I am looking for a DVD drive that it reliable and easy to install, speed would be nice too, only real criteria is under 100, oh yeah needs to be ide, its kind of a gift for the holidays, thanks for the feedback in advance

Yeah, not as popular as 19" monitor though.
Anyway do the search.

I have the slotload Pioneer 16X DVD (DVD105S) and no real complaints.
Would buy again.

Put me in for a Pioneer slot drive, I have a 10x. Some say they are a little bit on the loud side but I don't have any complaints.

I just bought an ASUS 8X for $80; it has a digital audio output, speed scaling, and is very very quiet. It's CD speed equals or beats most 40X CD-ROM only drives too.

They say that Pioneer and Toshiba drives are best...

I have a HItachi Drive made by Cendyne... 12x... boxed... got it from Fry's for $100... it's be great so far.
