DVD drive problems

Up until about a month ago my computer played DVDs fine. It's windows xp, has a dvd drive, about 2 ghz, good video card, etc. I have no idea what made it stop working

Basically, when I try to play a DVD, I get error messages saying the DVD can't be played. I've tried over ten DVDs and none of them work. In windows media, it says "Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. You might need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try lowering your screen resolution and color quality settings." I've tried this, and it doesn't work

help!

Get separate DVD playing software. Try http://www.computersworth.com they usually have some version of PowerDVD and WinDVD OEM versions for low bucks with free shipping. Last time I ordered they had PowerDVD version 6 and it was under $10. shipped.

Also the lens system in the drive may need cleaning especially if there are smokers in the house or if you do lots of greasy fried cooking.

do you have an access to you dvd drive? i mean can you explore it? if yes then problem isn't in your DVD drive. try to reinstall codecs, may be use another dvd player program as Zepper has suggested
