DVD drive pointers

I plan to install a Toshiba 1402 DVD into my computer. I have an IBM 75GXP 30gig ATA 100 HD on primary channel w\80 wire cable and a HP 9100i CDRW on secondary channel. What would be the best way to set up the DVD? Setting it up with the hard drive or the CDRW? I will mainly use the DVD as a cd reader along with viewing DVDs. Also do I need a decoder or will software work ok. 🙂
Thanks for your opinions.

Workin' is right... set it up to the slave of the CDRW, since most of the time your DVD drive will run with your harddrive anyways, not your CDRW...

You won't need a hardware decoder with your system specs... your CPU is fast enough to handle it...

Thanks for your input. Will copying cd's from drive to drive work ok with it set up this way or should I copy to hd first?
