DVD Drive Interface?

There are only two types of interfaces, SATA and IDE. So you laptop should already be one or the other.

Can you describe your problem in a little more detail?

Your photo is very fuzzy. No details visible. It looks like a mini / notebook ATA (IDE) connector, which looks like a smaller version of the standard ATA connector. Here's a pic of one:

If the center of the connector doesn't look like a SATA connector with a thin slot with an "L" shaped cutout at the end, then it's ATA.

The DVD drive you reference is mounted in a caddy designed for use in a HP laptop. To use the drive in a desktop, it would be removed from that caddy and mounted in a compatible case having power and data connections. If it is PATA, that would be the standard 40 pin connector. SATA is as described above.

If you do all of that, the drive can't be used in your laptop unless you completely reassemble it in the caddy. This is, IMHO, a bad idea - DVD drives are too cheap these days to play this game.
