DVD disc vibration issue

Anyone had problems with some discs making too much noise in the player? I picked up a copy of the tv show burn notice season2 last week and the discs are loud as hell. So much so that its mostly pointless to watch it on my set top player (older philips dv642). The computer drives aren't much better.

I'm wondering if its just older drives having issues with newer discs (dual layer maybe?) or just a bad disc printing.

TIA

Is there a lot of paint/ink on one half of the disc? I've seen that add enough weight to make the disc wobble. Some drives are more susceptible to the vibration than others. You could always copy it to a blank DVD.

Is this an original or an ebay fake...just wondering.

Dual layer DVD's have been around and common place (meaning 90%+ of all new releases) for at least 6-8 years).

Is it only this discs or all of your disc now? Could be a hardware failure.

Nah, legit originals, bought it from bestbuy. The player has always been a bit noisy especially since its not in a cabinet but its never been this bad. Its only this disc set (4 discs). It does seem to have heavy ink on the top part of the disc. It even seemed to cause more noise than normal in my laptop and desktop drives. Bleh, maybe I'll look into copying it to a blank dvd. Might be worth it as an excuse to buy a new player but not keen on it. I've not read any other complaints about it though on various review sites/fan sites for the show.

It is just impossible to tolerate, any time there is a soft part of audio during the show, you can barely hear anything due to the vibration noise.

There is quite a few unbalanced DVDs, though I have not noticed it causing any issue.

Bah, tried it in another brand new player, first disc wouldn't even play beyond the FBI warning lol. Only 1 disc in the set seems to play tolerably without making a ton of noise. Back to the store it goes.
