DVD Decoder for XP

Synomenon

Lifer
Anyone know of any free DVD Decoders for XP that will make it possible to watch DVD's in WMP11?

I have a license for NVIDIA's PureVideo DVD Decoder, but the PC that needs the decoder uses an ATI video card.

Get the CCCP Codec Pack. I am almost positive that includes a DVD Decoder as well as pretty much every other codec on the planet. Essentially what you will get is WMP11 that can play anything, that is my preferred way of doing things on Windows.

ATI cards work just fine with the Nvidia Purevideo decoder.

Just download the trial version of WinDVD or PowerDVD. It will install the MPEG2 decoder and you can use Windows Media Player to play DVDs without any of the trial software limitations.

Another nod for dscaler. You dont even have to install the package, just extract the main exe, and register the main .dll files.

mpegaudio.dll, mpegvideo.dll, and gendmoprop.dll

just register those 3 and you have flawless dvd playback.

copy the dll files whereever you want, i usually drop them in /windows/system32

then open a command prompt and type in regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\mpegaudio.dll

repeat for the other two files.
