dvd copying

Guys,

I have just purchased a dvd burner. I am eager to copy some commercial dvd's that i own to both test my dvd burner and exercise my fair rights laws. What is the best software to do this?

According to the MPAA, you have no fair use rights. In fact, you have no rights at all 😉

QFT. In fact, according to the MPAA you are a PIRATE. Arrrr!!!
Yep, and we all know pirates are more of a threat to society than any terrorist. They are lobbying congress to get copyright violators sent to Gitmo 😀

I use AnyDVD to rip; the best encoder is DVD Rebuilder w/ CCE SP2.

I'm sure the people in the software forum would be happy to answer your question, why don't you try there or better yet find the 100 other threads on the subject.

DVD Shrink with Nero works extremely well.

Not by itself, at least not anymore.

Unless there's a new one that does again... everything changes in this game so fast!

dvdfab decrypter to rip image, dvdshrink to transcode and imgburn to burn. Quality is pretty good and that is still fairly simple (all free tools too). I recommend using all of the above tools but substituting dvdshrink with vobblanker + dvdrebuilder + cce or some other encoder.

a) RipIt4Me
note...you also want to have 3 other apps installed when you use RipIt4Me:
(1) DVD Decrypter (2) FixVTS, and (3) DVD Shrink

b) Burn to DVD-ROM with whatever you like to use. I use NEro Burning ROM. Plenty of freeware available for burning too.

This is what I'm using, and so far it seems to work fine. It's also relatively quick, though I don't imagine that helps the quality much.
