DVD/CDRW mode issue under XP

I just upgraded to XP. The mobo i am using is ECS K7VZA ver 3.0 (Athlon 1.4 Ghz) with latest bios from the website. The two CD ROM drive I am using are Liteon DVD LTD 163 (16X) and Liteon CDRW LTR24102B (24X) with latest firmware from liteon website on both of them. The problem I am facing is both drives are being identified as in PIO mode 4 in the bios while booting up (in all combinations: master, slave, single primary, secondary etc.) As a result of this windows XP device manager shows both are working on "multi-word" DMA mode-2 and not in "Ultra" DMA mode 2. I have an IBM 60 GXP hard drive. The mobo shows that correctly i.e ATA 100 (ultra DMA mode 5). How can i resolve this issue?

Enabling DMA on hard drives and CDROMs.

Interestingly, in Windows XP, DMA was activated by default on my Yamaha CDRW under the advanced settings of my primary ATA33 IDE controller. (My hard drives are on a Promise ATA66 controller.) Perhaps this is why my CDRW is giving me coaster after coaster. Yamaha 4416 burners have issues when DMA is active and people have had similar problems with DMA in Win 2000.

(I just installed XP on Sat., and hadn't looked at the DMA settings until today.)

Thanks but that is not the answer I am looking from. I want to know why the Cd roms are connected in PIO mode 4 but not ATA 33 as it should be. (that is what the bios shows before booting to windows. I have another comp with Iwill kk266 mobo. I use the same drives and it shows up as ATA 33.

one more thing. since I switched from win2k to XP the Liteon 24X CDRW shows max speed as 16x in Nero. How can i fix this?

do i need to put any jumpers on the pins marked "reserved" (there are 3 pairs) at the back panel of the drives in order to make it ATA 33?
