Heh...good idea.
I'm going to put a 6ft dowel into a board, stand it up, and toss my CD's on it. I'll just use some thick super-glue on the top layer CD before dropping another ontop of it.
wonder how long it'll take me to make a 6ft CD tube...heheheh (I'm guesstimating it will take about 1200 CD's at 100per/6in

Hmmmmmm... how about just superglueing a bunch of cd's together? Keep the pile growing. Eventually when it's large enough, you may be able to attach it to a lathe, and make something neat out of it. Hmmm.... 600 CD's firmly glued to each other would make a thick walled tube... perhaps use the tube for a "high tech" potato gun?
I can see it now. In about 3 months we'll read a post on Slashdot about a person who collected 10 million AOL CD's and built an entire house out of them...

Lot's of jokes here, but it is a serious problem.
In my work place EVERY media must be "properly disposed of" -
Tape must be unspooled and shredded.
Floppies must be broken apart and the actual media cut in 4 pieces.
CD's must be scratched 4 times and then sent to recycle.
This is for EVERY piece of media - even if it is just MicroSux Windows 3.1 original floppies.
Typically the nooB to the office gets to spend the first week on "media destroy detail".
Sometimes we get the entire group together for a "floppy destroy" party.
Total waste of time, but must be done due to security.
I like the idea of an AOL "log house".
