DVD Burning shuts off Computer

I've tried several different burning programs and a couple different makes of DVDs, but the computer always just shuts itself off - no blue screen, no freeze, just all of a sudden the computer is off. The CPU temps are low (30s), so I dont think it's an overheating problem.

It always occurs during the "lead-in". Nothing ever gets written on the DVD.

Any ideas?

I Changed my UDMA setting to 0 and now I was able to burn one DVD. However, now the game I am playing (Neverwinter Nights 2) occasionally shuts down the computer during startup. Same type of shut-down - I need to unplug the computer for a few seconds to get it to turn back on. Should I try another UDMA setting or is the board bad (MSI K9N Platinum)?

the settings shouldn't make a PC shut down, have you tried a different IDE port or IDE cable?

Also have you installed the Nforce drivers, Nvidia's SW-IDE drivers blow for me (and a lot of other people) if you've installed the drivers, or aren't sure, download the latest Nforce and make sure you uncheck the SW-IDE box. I've had so many burner problems with the SW-IDE it's not even funny.

If you're 100% you don't have the SW-IDE's installed, try a different cable or ide port.
