I have a BenQ DW 1655 IDE DVD Burner. I am having issues burning DVD's with it, whether it's my own compilation, or dvd images. It takes REALLY long, and i sometimes i get errors. I use alcohol 120, dvd decrypter and nero with all the same issues

the burn process is generally alot slower than my previous dvd burner, but most annoyingly, the last 95-99% takes about 30 minutes to finish up, which is definitely not right. I don't know if there is a hardware incompatibility issue or anything, as i just hooked this up to a Gigabyte EP35-DS3R. Before that, this was mainly used just to watch DVD's on my media center PC. I am going to try and swap dvd drives to see if there is a problem w/ the motherboard. but has anyone had any similar issues and give me a clue to where to start investigating?

I have two of these drives and experienced no problems. Something's definately not right.

I'm with Horsepower. Update the firmware.

I don't know if it's in PIO mode or not. I didn't check for it. Everything was default when installing windows.

Have you tried running the Nero Disc Quality test? The BenQ 1655 is compatible with this test, and the results should give you some clues as to what is wrong. In my experience with a bunk batch of DVD+Rs, burning tended to be slowest in the regions that had the highest frequency of errors.

What media are you using?

it seemed like that firmware update resolved all the burning issues i had. i don't understand why the link to it is not available on benq's website. Thanks!
