I bought a Toshiba SD-R5272 8x Dual-DVD Burner. The burner came with Nero 6 OEM and is the recommended burning software. I upgraded to the latest version on Nero, 6.3.1.20. The DVD burner will play audio CD's, play DVD movies and burn CD-R's fine. I have tried to burn data DVD disc's and DVD movies and been unable to do so. I am using Philips DVD+R Discs. It will burn the DVD disc, but when you open the drive from My Computer, it shows up blank and the computer doesn't recognize it. I also have Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 if that helps.

Are the files you're attempting to write to CD/DVD be copyrighted by any chance?

Have you tried a different media type? It sounds like the burning process works fine, but the drive(s) can't read the burned DVD discs.

I have 4.3GB of MP3's and was wanting to put them on 1 DVD. I was using DVD Shrink 3.2 to copy movies.

When I used the Philips 8x discs, you can see it burnt something onto the disc. The color changes compared to a new disc. It seems the drive was unable to read it. Before I upgraded to Service Pack 2, I got an error stating the drive is unable to read the format or the disc is corrupt. Nero says the DVD was burned successfully at 4x.
