DVD Burners and Media

I have been looking into purchasing a DVD ROM and Burner. My question is, what do I mainly need to look for when I am purchasing a DVD Burner or Rom?

Also, what do I need to look for when looking at blank DVD media?

DVD Burner: I've mainly used LG burners, though there's some new burners out with something called "light scribe" which looks kind of neet. Not sure if LG employes this yet. I've never coastered w/ my LG burner.

Media: I get any cheap generic crap. Again, never coastered one in the two 50 spindles I've gone through.

Picking a DVD burner now isn't like when they used to cost $500. Just grab whichever recognized brandname that's cheapest and you'll probably be fine anyway.

Well I pretty much decided on the 3520a before I came here. I just have no idea what media I need to get; -R or +R? I have no idea what the difference is.

-r is a little more compatible and + r is wupposed to be tecnically better.
reall, it dosen't matter anymore, now that they are dirt cheap.

So is there one that you would recommend I get with the 3520a? Also, the drive I found for $44 but is OEM. Isn't there a program that I will need to burn DVDs with?
