DVD burner?

Yes, but you don't have the money for it ($2000-17,000) You could buy a DVD-RAM for back-up, with its 5.2 gigabyte storage capacity for under $500, but it is not like burning a regular DVD. The actual DVD-RAM comes in a black sealed case. DVD-RAM drives can read and playback DVD movies.

DVD burning technologies:

DVD-RAM
DVD-R
DVD+RW
DVD-RW

On techtv the other night, they said that Compaq may have DVD burners on new rigs under $2500 as soon as the end of February. Seems a little soon to me.

check out Apple's site. They are marketing a DVD burner for $3500. They throw in an Apple computer for free.

i agree with psykohog.

we have no idea what will be the way of the future: DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW

so be careful. you don't want to lose your investment. there is no reader at the moment that can read all types i believe.

plus the media for them are expensive. better to just buy the DVDs

Check this out, DVD-R $ 995.00 MSRP

Pioneer DVR-103

DVD Recordable media - 4.7 GB ($40 MSRP)

I'll wait till it goes below $500 and maybe w/ Burnproof/JustLink technology. Just ondering how long it takes to burn one DVD.

Can't wait for the Hot Deals for this maybe next year????
