Heh this thread is great. I've been eyeing the NEC 3550A for a while now but it looks like buy time. The liteon reviews make it sound good and all, but all I care about is the highest burn quality/compatibility and I'm thinking NEC does a little better for burn qual.

edit: can we get a poll going on this?
 
Just ordered the Lite On 165P6S.

Reasoning:
NEC and Sony don't do DVD-RAM (on the off chance I need it)
LG only has NeroExpress rather than Burning ROM.

I'll see how it goes.
