DVD-burner won't read CDs since the latest WinXP patch.

My brother recently had this problem. Unfortunately, we have been unable to resolve it. The only thing we put it down to was that he pushed the CDR part of the drive too far when overburning, which he insists he has not done. He might be right, but it's the sort of thing he would do if you know what I mean. Just out of interest do you have Nero installed and the checkbox selected to overburn?
