DVD burner, what format to buy...

I am wanting to buy a DVD burner but I know there are more then a few different formats to choose from, what would be the best one to buy for making just a plain old DVD?

What do all the different formats do?

Just get an NEC 3520 and be done with it. Its probibly the best bang for the buck DVD burner out now at around 50 bucks.

BTW you do know you are in the video forum right ?

Edit, it will burn all of the popular formats, in fact most drives nowadays will
