DVD-burner problem

When I put in a 16 X DVD-r to burn at 16 x my burning program nero won't allow me to burn me higher then 12 x. What should I do to be able to burn it at 16 x?

most likely culprit is the media.... what kind are u using? if it IS certified 16x, try updating the firmware becuase u might have old firmware that doenst support the media
