DVD Burner problem

I have a lite-on 832S.

It works on my old pc fine, my new one it doesnt work at all.

All it will do is show me whats on the disc, and when i click on it it crashes.

Wont play dvds or burn dvds either.

Perhaps this is some sort of winxp SP2 issue?

Any input would be apreciated.

sounds like a defective IDE cable. Try to change to a new one and try again.

already tried switching the ide cable. Also tried switching it to the other ide channel. no go.

did you install windows useing this drive?

Wild stab in the dark - have you tried updating the firwmare?

yeah i have the latest, just checked the drive in another pc and it works. So its not the drive itself.
