DVD burner problem

Ok i have a nec3520a and for some reason it won't read any blank media... cd or dvd's.

but it'll read burnt or regular dvd or cd's.

this is the error i get when i insert blank media.
D:/ is not accessible
incorrect function
 
What kind of media? also, have you tried more than one kind of media?

Just taking a stab in the dark, but who knows, it could be right.
 
ya both blank cd's and dvd's do not work even dual layer blank dvd don't work,

anything blank simply does not work.

but if its been burnt its reads just fine. plus normal dvd's and cds read fine too
