Since that drive is dual format, why not consider getting DVD+R media?

If that drive supports bitsetting, then you can finalize DVD+R discs so that they are viewed as DVD-ROM media. This provides the best compatibility across DVD players, and can't be done with DVD-R media.

If the drive doesn't support bitsetting, then it really doesn't matter, and DVD-R would probably be more compatible than DVD+R, depending on your DVD players.

Both my DVD Players are Sony's and the one on the BigScrene is less than a year old and the other one is less than 3, but i'd say more like 1.5-2.5.

This does not have BiSetting and some people think it will never.
It just needs to be able to burn and play on my DVD Player. Thats all I really care about.

Any comments about the Ritek?

What are the advantages and being viewed as DVD Rom Media?

The Pioneer is based on the NEC chipset and doesn't include some of the features. I would get the NEC 3500.

Debating between Pioneer 108 vs NEC 3500.
