DVD burner difference

one is OEM the other our retail. with the retail version u get the pretty box and the CD while OEM is just the burner itself

ok then thx. Whats the difference between the 3550A and the 3540? And will we ever see the Benq 1640 on Newegg again?

From NEC:

In addition, all components of the ND-3550 are ?lead-free? and therefore already comply with the statutory recycling standards of tomorrow (coming into effect on Jan 1, 2006).

This is the only difference between the 3540 and the 3550.

Chiefvalue (which is newegg) has the Benq 1640 , (although it's beige) for $44.49. Edit: Newegg has the beige for $43.99.... you must be looking for the black bezel.

AFAIK, the 4550 also reads/writes DVD-RAM disks.
