DVD burner can't read burned discs

I recently had some suspected worm/virus problems and noticed my DVD burner (Sony DRU-530A, rebadged NEC) has great trouble reading burned CDRs and DVD+Rs that it burned. Pressed CD's read without issue. I've tried 3 different brands of discs and also tried the drive test program that Sony has and it passed. I also upgraded to the latest supported firmware. I know very little about the optical drive scene, any help?

I suggest you to contact the manufactuer assuming it is still under warranty as it appears to be a hardware problem with the drive, the drive test program can't find every problem, it just gives you a hint where to start if it finds omething wrong.
