DVD burner can't detect CD-R media

I have a NU DVD Burner and I have updated the firmware.
It detects and burns DVDs perfectly, but with a CD-R all the software, Nero and XP, ask me to put a blank CD in the drive.

Have you tried a different brand of CD-R? Some drives don't like certain brands on occasion.

i ahd this problem with a liteon DVD writer drive....it refused to have anything to do with a CD of any kind, it jus wouldnt read them or write them

also i had an artec cd writer that did exactly as u have described....in both occasions i had to buy new drives

i replaced the liteon with a NEC2510A and the artec with a Samsung cd rewriter
