DVD audio problems

Every time I try to play a DVD the audio starts stuttering and it seems like it also makes the video stutter. I have to operating systems installed, Windows 2000 and Windows 98se. It only stutters in Windows 2000 so I think that rules out hardware problems. I have two audio devices installed and they are: A Creative Sound Blaster 128 and AC97 onboard audio. When I tried both audio devices both of them did the same thing. I have adjusted the hardware acceleration and sample rate conversion quality for both sound devices but the audio is still stuttery sounding. Any help would VERY appreciated because this problem is very annoying!

Could you list out your system specs:

like cpu, ram, video card, etc. DVD play back takes up CPU useage.

Also, it might be driver issue also, are there any updates for the sound card. Also do you have BOTH sound cards operational at the same time? It might IRQ resourse sharing issue.

As above,

But also, check first that DMA is enabled for all drives.

I checked to see if UDMA was enabled and it wasn't. When I installed Windows 2000 I checked to see if it was enabled and it was. I have no idea how it changed. Anyway it worked to enable it. THANKS A MILLION TO EVERYONE THAT HELPED!!! Finally normal DVD playback!

P.S.
Here are the computer specs you asked for.

AMD Athlon XP 2200 CPU
ATI All-In-Wonder 9600 XT video card
One CompUSA 512MB DDR 400 memory chunk
Abit NF7-S2 motherboard
Pioneer 8X DVD Drive
Memorex 52X24X52 CDRW drive
Two 80GB 7200RPM ATA 100 Seagate hard drives
Aopen 350 watt power supply (Which came an H700 computer case)

Not that fast but good enough.
