DVD 2 VCD encoding is so complicating...

I'd like to rip a DVD movie that I own and convert it to a VCD to watch it on my other computers, but I'm having some serious problems getting the conversion to work.
I've tried the method of converting to AVI first and then turning to MPEG format, but this takes way too long.
So, I've attempted to convert directly to MPEG with DVD2MPEG. The progblem is, whenever I load the IFO file to start converting, it loads the MENU media instead of the actual movie. It does this for every single file of the movie that I load. No matter what file I load, it starts the MENU section. Is this a protection method made by the DVD? What can I do? Has anyone else had this problem before? 😕
