Hi,

I'm using Premiere Pro CS3 for capturing home video into my PC. I'm using scene detection to automatically split the captured video into files.

Now I was wondering ... how can I store the original date/time of recording?

Does the software have any option? Like saving to EXIF info, or at least add date/time info to the captured filename?

I've tried another software scenalizer, that does add a timestamp with the original record date/time to the file, a file ends up like: tape30'20041205 13.07.38.avi but I don't know if the capture quality would be as good as with Premiere Pro CS3.

I was hopping that Premiere Pro CS3 would do the same, since it's a more recent and full product (and costs more).

Thanks

There should be no quality loss if capturing over Firewire. It's a bit by bit extraction of the original DV video. The program should not alter it in any way.

I'm not sure about the date and time question. I use CS2, but we label our tapes with date - so I've never looked for that info.

Thanks for the info and links :)

If anyone have any idea if it is possible to automatically capture with PPro CS2/3 with date/time or even just date in the filename, please post :)

To help answer your question - Premiere Pro has no way of displaying the time/date of the video. The information is stored in the AVI file itself, but you can't view it within premiere.

The two alternatives are:

DVMP Basic can be found here http://www.dvmp.co.uk/dv-media-player.htm

or

"DV Date - Plugin for Adobe® Premiere® for Windows® print the timecode or shooting time information of the shooting made on a digital camcorder, into the movie, being edited."
