I'm shopping for new bed sheets and I keep seeing duvet covers. What in the bloody blue fuck is a duvet cover?? Is this something I'm supposed to have on my bed? Like when girls come over to my place are they thinking
"I was going to let him rail me like he just got out on parole, but he doesn't have a duvet cover. He must be classless. I think I'll just give him a hand-j instead and then leave"

Google, moron.

A duvet (pronounced UK: /ˈdjuːveɪ/, US: /djʊˈveɪ/, from the French duvet [dyˈvɛ] "down") is a type of bedding — a soft flat bag traditionally filled with down or feathers, or a combination of both, and used on a bed as a blanket.

That's what a fucking comforter is. But these places have duvets and comforters listed differently

It's to keep your down comforter clean, so you don't have to wash the whole thing.

but then what's a duvet cover....so you have a blanket on your bed, a duvet over that for some reason....and then a duvet cover for the duvet?? Seems redundant

You put a comforter inside of a duvet cover. It is a huge PITA, too.

I've never heard the term "comforter" before, so it's obviously a regional thing. And you use a duvet cover because washing and drying a duvet is a bitch. You'll know that one day when you move out and your mommy isn't doing your laundry any more.

I'll make this simple for you.

The duvet cover goes over the duvet(comforter), in place of a typical top sheet.

wait, so instead of a top sheet you'd be sleeping directly under your blanket?

I've lived on my own since I was 18 asshole. I have a top sheet and then a blanket (comforter) on my bed. What you described sounds extra faggy.

wait, and why would you have a duvet and then a duvet cover to keep you from having to wash your blanket...when you just have to wash the duvet cover???? That sounds like a complete load of festering horse shit.

OP = Moron

Duvet = Comforter = Blanket

Duvet Cover = Cover for Duvet

Correct.

OP, it is easier to wash a duvet cover. Most duvets or comforters are thick and in order to wash them, you have to have a large washing machine or take it to a laundramat. Duvet covers, on the other hand, are really thin and when you remove the comforter to wash it, it is just like washing a few sheets at once.
