OK, after putting an intake and exhaust fan I noticed the amount of dust inside the system increasing rapidly....(this is a news case and the fans have been on for about 2 weeks). Unfortunately, I have my comp on the carpet :( . I just hate a dusty system. What do you guys do about it? Also, whats your opinion on filter vs their decrease on air flow?

BTW: If you ever want to see dust flying to cards in the system, open up your case and disturb some nearby dust( but not in the system, cause then you'll get all kinds of wierd flow pattern) and hold a narrow beam flashlight to your system. Man, I you can literaly see them migrate overthere.

Ahhh, cool...didn't think about that.

Anyone ever tried an active approach? ie. Ionized system or something similar to those air purifier? Ok, that might be overboard, but I need some ideas...

1st, don't put your box on floor, put it on a desk or something.
if you live in a house, a room in the garage without window would be clean(also good for cooling:))
an air cleaner can make it even better.

1. I use filters over my intake fans.

2. I use a 1" paint brush and can of compressed air to get rid of dust each time I open the case.

3. Any time I'm involved in an extensive case mod (or I see a critical need) I take the system down to the corner gas station and blow everything out with compressed air.

I don't really like to put a filter on my fan grills, they tend to restrict air flow into the system. I just open up the case, grab a can of compressed air and my trusty dustbuster and suck away :)

I do not use fan filters. I take a can of compressed air and spray like crazy.
Works great! :) hehe

I got a large CO2 bottle from a soda fountain machine and I hook up a rubber hose to it. About once a month I grab the hose and open the valve and blow all the dust out in about 15 seconds.
I do this because I leave the side of my case open for cooling purposes.
Anyways I've been doing this for approx 2yrs and never had a problem with it in fact I've never had to refill my CO2 bottle yet.

i use a filter on the front... mainly cuz it looks cool :) heh. But the way my case was made, we left some air holes for dust to get in. So, it's open it every so often and compressed air. my dorm is very dusty, and the filter has a layer of crap on it in no time flat.

Everytime I get a chance to vaccum my room I simply pop my case open and suck all the dust out. works well.

Drier sheets work great, put them over the intakes. They will filter out the dust, make the area smell good, and you'll be STATIC FREE. ;)

Just use a can of compressed air every once and a while. I would not recommend using an ionizer. They can lead to a buildup of static electricity and wouldnt solve the problem anyway(maybe even make it worse)
