Dust is the Devil

I heard my fans running unusually fast and loud the other day, and they wouldn't stop. I thought maybe some program was running in the background. Checked, but no. Then I rebooted and still the airplane props were whirring!
Opened the case to find a pretty serious collection of dust on everything. I had a small bit of compressed air left in a can, and used what I had to clean the case out. Once I was done, the fans RPM's returned to normal.
But that got me to thinking. Besides those lame, and expensive cans of air, what's a good alternative to keeping a case relatively dust free?

You can use part of a filter (HVAC, air purifier, etc...) and make your own custom filter and mount it on the inside of your intake vent. A little work but well worth it. Fiolters for HVAC are cheap and you could get several for your pc out of one HVAC filter.

Dust is the suck! 😉 I'm starting to wonder why no one has come up with a sealed case with intakes filtered by this stuff.

I use a SuperSoaker! Except, I leave it dry so no particles of water remain. It can be a bit tedious, but it's cheaper than buying compressed air.

I've used dust filters on all intakes; now the new cases I've got, SLK3700's, have wire mesh filters built in. I can't say they're the greatest, as they leave in really fine dust, but they do cut down on a lot of it. In the past, I've used this kind of filter.
